SHARE – Icebreaker – In this sermon series, we are exploring some of the toxic behaviors that we experience in the church. This Sunday we are looking at pridefulness. Can you think of a time when you felt pride in a positive way?

STUDY - Text: Philippians 2:5-8 (NRSV)

Let the same mind be in you that was in Christ Jesus, 6 who, though he existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God as something to be grasped, 7 but emptied himself, taking the form of a slave, assuming human likeness. And being found in appearance as a human, 8 he humbled himself and became obedient to the point of death— even death on a cross.

Do you think that Pride is a terrible sin? Or is Pride something that we need more of?

As we think about our theme Toxic Christianity: Do you think religious people are particularly susceptible to the sin of pride? Why, or Why not?

The Apostle Paul uses the example of Christ to teach us about humility. Do you know someone in your own life who sets an example of humility?

What are some ways that you can cultivate humility in your own life?
